Pathergy Test

The pathergy test is rarely performed at present. A sterile needle is used to prick the skin. One to two days later, the site is examined for the occurrence of a pustular lesion, caused by a non-specific venulitis. The rate of positivity of the pathergy test varies widely in different populations (6-71%).
