Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS)
The acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, or AIDS, is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV, and causes a progressive loss of the infection-fighting cells of the body. Further information can be found in the Patient Education Monograph on this website.
