CD4+ T-cell count
T-cells are one kind of white blood cell that the body uses to fight off infection and other harmful situations. CD4+ cells are a subset of T-cells. A blood test can measure the number of these cells in the immune system. Patients with suppressed immune systems as in AIDS have a low number of CD4+ T-cells, which make these patients more susceptible to infections.
